1. Fender Telecaster

The Fender Telecaster is a real classic! First produced in 1950 it was named Esquire.  Later that year the Esquire was replaced by the Broadcaster because of neck-problems.  In 1951 Fender changed the name into Telecaster.

It is the first commercial produced solid body guitar. Known for its tele twang and it is used in every kind of music style.

Famous players are Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Roy Buchanan, Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen and many more!

2. Fender Stratocaster

The Fender Stratocaster was introduced in 1954.

Jimi Hendrix turned it into a rock giant! It is shaped in a way that guitarists like. Not too heavy, no sharp edges and easy to play. Shaped like a woman (Hendrix called it his electric lady).

Famous Strat lovers are Jimi Hendrix, Jeff beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Hank Marvin, David Gilmour and Richie Blackmore.

3. Gibson Les Paul

The Gibson Les Paul first appears in 1952 . The Goldtop with two P-90 elements. In 1957 they reolaced them by humbuckers and became the Les Paul Standard. 

Famous Les Paul players are Slash, Gary Moore, Randy Rhodes, Bob Marley, Mike Campbell, Joe Bonamassa, The Edge and of course Les Paul himself.

4. Gibson ES-175

The Gibson ES-175 was introduced in 1949. It is an archtop and especially made for Jazz guitarists. In 1953 it appeared with two humbuckers. 

Famous ES-175 players are Pat Metheny, Steve Howe, Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell.

5. Gibson ES-335

The Gibson ES-335 is great for blues, rock & roll and anything else! The first 335 appeared in 1958. It is only 1 3/4 inch deep (ES-175 is 3 1/8 inch deep).It has a solid maple block running down the centre that's why it's called a semi hollow body electric guitar.

It became very populair because of it's specific sound and feedback resistance.

Famous ES-335 players are BB King, Chuck Berry, Alvin Lee, Eric Clapton (In his Cream days), Larry Carlton and Dave Grohl.

6. Gretsch 6120

The Gretsch 6120 was introduced in 1955. It is a hollow body. In 1958 the elements where replaced by the Filter'Tron pickups and became a classic!

Famous players are Chet Atkins, Brian Setzer, Duane Eddy, George Harrison and Pete Townshend.

7. Rickenbacker 360/12

The Rickenbacker 360/12 appeared in 1963.  Later in 1964 George Harrison played this 12 string electric guitar on A Hard Day's Night. It made the guitar very populair and it stil is. 

Famous players are George Harrison, Roger McQuinn, Pete Townshend, Tom Petty, Noel Gallagher and the Edge played on one too.

8. PRS McCarty

PRS McCarty is a great product of Paul Reed Smith. The first McCarty appears in 1994. Ted McCarty was a former President of Gibson. PRS asked him to help developing their guitars. This guitar is a tribute to Ted.
